How to Recognize Symptoms of the Flu.  The flu has a number of symptoms.

Not everyone with the flu will have a fever.

According to the CDC, you may have the flu if you have some or all of these symptoms:

sore throat

runny or stuffy nose

body aches

sometimes diarrhea and vomiting

What should you do if you get sick?

Most people will only have a mild illness with the flu.  The best course of action for the flu is to stay home and avoid other people, except to get medical care.

However, if you have flu symptoms and are in a high-risk group (young children, people 65 and older, pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions) or are very sick, contact your healthcare provider immediately at Family Wellness Center.

Don’t let the flu turn fatal.  2018 has seen 30 reported deaths across the United States of children from the flu as of January 19, 2018.   CDC Director Brenda Fitzgerald notes that “influenza A, H3N2, has been the most common strain of flu virus reported this year. These viruses are often linked to more severe illness, especially among children and people age 65 and older.” This group is especially vulnerable.
