Measles is Highly Contagious and 90% Preventable

The World Health Organization reported there were 35 children in Europe who died from measles in 2016.  Measles is a vaccine-preventable disease.  Despite decades of medical research confirming the safety of the vaccine, fears and misinformation have caused thousands of parents across Europe to avoid vaccinating their children.

There have been 108 cases of measles reported in the U.S. as of mid-June, 2017 according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Measles is caused by a highly contagious virus that spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.  Without the measles vaccine, 90% of people exposed to the measles virus will become ill.

Measles vaccinations are available at Family Wellness Center.  Call us today to schedule an appointment.
