Frequently Asked Questions

Which of your providers are accepting new patients?

Thomas Dyehouse,MD, Stephanie Bennett, FNP, Karli Whittam MD, Morgan Powell, FNP, Jeffrey S. Young MD, and Dr. Karl Kuzis, MD PhD are currently accepting new patients. Great news — all of our providers will accept family members of current established patients regardless of insurance coverage. There are a few health insurance plans for which we are not accepting new patients at this time, so you should always confirm with your insurance to ascertain our providers are in-network or on your plan.

Will you bill my insurance for services provided?

As a courtesy, Family Wellness Center sends claims electronically to most major health insurance companies. Insurance co-payments are due at the time of visit. After your insurance company has processed your office visit billing, any balance due by the patient will be billed directly to the guarantor of the account. You may receive an outside laboratory bill for any labs done outside of the office, and we can assist you in handling any billing problems if our PCP ordered the labs.

Does FWC accept Credit Cards?

We are happy to accept bank debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, and HSA cards. We are unable to take Discover card, American Express, or Care Credit at this time.

Can I e-mail my doctor?

This feature is not active as yet, but if you register for our secure “Patient Portal,” then you will have the capability to send an electronic message to your provider’s medical assistant or our advice nurse. Many times the Medical Assistant will send the question to your provider and they will reply back to you. Patient privacy is of utmost concern to us, so we are exploring the most updated options to allow our patients to communicate safely and effectively with their provider.

How Do I Register for the Patient Portal?

At your first office visit, you may give us your email address, and this will generate an email invitation to you. Just click on the link in the email to set up your login and password, and then you will be ready to experience all of the benefits of our patient portal. After you have a login, you may login wherever internet is available and have access to your personal health records with you virtually anywhere.

Our easy “FollowMyHealth” patient portal is simple to navigate which includes your personal health record, Ask A Nurse, Request An Appointment, Prescription Refills, and Forms, to name a few of the available services. There is even a text option to remind you of your appointment. We also have dedicated staff to help troubleshoot any questions you may have.

Can I request an appointment online?

Yes you can! You will be able to submit non-urgent appointment requests online once you have a registered patient portal account with login. For same day appointments and urgent issues, it is best to call our office to schedule an appointment at 360.260.2773. We are happy to serve you and always try to keep wait time to a minimum.

How do I get a refill of my prescription?

It is always best and most efficient to call your pharmacist first for any refill requests of current medications. Be sure to provide the pharmacy with your prescription number located on the container. Even if you have no refills left, always encourage your pharmacist to send us a request for a refill. It really is the most efficient method of refilling prescriptions.

Your pharmacist will contact our office if the refill requires provider’s approval. You should request a refill at least 3 days before the medication runs out for a local pharmacy, and at least 14 days for a mail-order pharmacy. Please allow our office 2 business days for our staff to respond to refill requests. Routine prescriptions and controlled substances such as pain medications will not be filled after office hours or on weekends or holidays.

Do I always get to see my primary care physician at each visit?

FWC makes every effort to schedule you with your primary care provider, however there may be days when your provider is not working and you need to see a different provider for same day urgent appointments. Since our records are electronic, the covering doctor has the entire medical chart at their fingertips so that there is continuity between staff and they can provide the best care to you and your family. For chronic and preventable care, we encourage you to always schedule with your primary care provider here at FWC.
